TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Last updated: November 2026

1. About us

This website is run by Roots of Nature Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 07898531). Our registered office is 3a Lake Road, Coniston, Cumbria LA21 8EW. VAT number: GB 443 8262 88. You can contact us at info@rootsofnature.co.uk or on 07732 757043.

2. What these terms cover

These terms apply when you use this website, use our free tools and resources, or book a place on one of our courses.

Consultancy work for farms, estates and organisations is agreed separately in a written proposal, and that proposal takes priority over these terms where they differ.

Roots to Regeneration is run by Roots to Regeneration CIC and has its own application process and terms.

3. Using this website

The articles, white papers, reports and other content on this site are general information to help you think about your land and farm business. They are not advice about your particular situation. We work hard to keep it accurate, but we can’t guarantee that everything is complete or up to date.

The content on this site belongs to Roots of Nature Ltd or the people we credit. You’re welcome to share links and quote short extracts with credit. Please don’t copy or republish whole pieces, course materials or tools without our permission, unless a piece says it is published under an open licence (for example Creative Commons), in which case that licence applies.

We link to other websites we think are useful. We aren’t responsible for their content.

4. Free tools and resources

Some tools are available when you join our mailing list. Others are for our clients and course participants only; if we have given you a private link or password, please don’t share it.

Our tools are there to support your own judgement. They give indicative results based on the information you enter and general assumptions, and they don’t replace a site visit or professional advice. Decisions about your land, livestock and business remain yours.

When you join our mailing list, we’ll send you new writing, training news and occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click. Our Privacy Policy explains how we look after your details.

5. Booking a course

When you book a place, you’ll receive a confirmation email. That’s when our contract with you begins.

Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT. Full payment is due when you book.

Each course page sets out what’s included (for example lunches) and what isn’t (for example accommodation and travel).

6. Your right to cancel (cooling-off period)

If you’re booking as a consumer, you can cancel within 14 days of receiving your booking confirmation and get a full refund. Email us at info@rootsofnature.co.uk to cancel.

If the course takes place within those 14 days and you attend, you’ll pay for the course you received.

If you’re booking for a business (for example a farm business, estate or organisation), the 14-day cooling-off right doesn’t apply, but you can still transfer your place as set out below.

7. Cancelling after the cooling-off period

After the cooling-off period, we don’t give refunds. Instead, you can:

  • send someone else in your place at no extra charge, by letting us know their name before the course, or
  • transfer your place to a later date of the same course, if you let us know at least 14 days before the course starts. You can transfer once, to a date within the next 12 months.

8. If we need to cancel or change a course

Occasionally we may need to cancel or move a course, for example because of severe weather, a disease outbreak or biosecurity restrictions, illness of a tutor, or too few bookings. If we do, we’ll tell you as soon as possible and you can choose a full refund or a place on another date.

We aren’t responsible for travel or accommodation costs you’ve paid, so we recommend booking refundable or flexible travel and accommodation.

We may make small changes to the programme, timings or speakers. If we make a significant change before the course, you can choose a full refund instead.

9. On the farm

Our courses take place on working farms, outdoors and in all weathers. Please wear suitable clothing and boots, follow the safety and biosecurity instructions you’re given on the day, and tell us in advance about any access needs or medical conditions we should know about. Please don’t bring dogs unless we’ve agreed it beforehand.

We sometimes take photos during courses to use on our website and social media. We’ll ask at the start of the day, and you can tell us if you’d prefer not to be photographed.

10. Our advice

Our consultancy, coaching and teaching give you our professional opinion based on what we see and what you tell us. We are not legal, financial, tax or veterinary advisers.

Where we comment on infrastructure, subsidies or funding schemes, we give an indicative view only, and you should check it with a specialist before acting on it.

11. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited by law. If you’re a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your legal rights.

If you’re a consumer, we’re responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We aren’t responsible for business losses such as lost profit or income.

If you’re booking or buying for a business, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the service concerned, and we aren’t responsible for indirect losses or loss of profit.

12. Privacy and cookies

Please see our Privacy Policy for how we collect and use personal information and how we use cookies.

13. Questions and complaints

If you’re unhappy with anything, please email info@rootsofnature.co.uk and we’ll reply within 14 days. We’d always rather hear from you and put things right.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to a booking is the one on this page when you made it.

15. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you’re a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
